Sacramental Journey
Sacraments are indeed sacred moments that we celebrate during our life journey. The Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Faith are Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist. At Baptism we are welcomed into God’s Family and the Faith Community. The journey of faith continues when children are about 8, 9 & 10 years of age. The Archdiocese of Brisbane has recently launched a new policy on Sacraments to be implemented throughout the Archdiocese.
At St. Joseph’s we will begin implementing this policy next year.
Here is a brief outline of the Sacramental Journey we will offer families at St. Joseph’s who are keen to continue the journey of faith with their children.
2016
Our St. Joseph’s Parish offers a preparation program prior to the celebration of each of the Sacraments that includes:
Parent information meetings to support families in their ongoing faith formation, Rituals for the children to participate in during weekend Eucharist and Family Workshops which aim to provide relaxed God moments, enjoyed by adults and children alike.

2016
- Parent information and enrolment meeting for the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation & First Eucharist:
- Workshop offered on Baptism – great way for families to revisit the dream and commitment they made at the Baptism of their child: 6/3/16 at 10.15am (Parish Centre)
- Preparation for Confirmation begins in June.
- Confirmation will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s on 12/8/16 and 19/8/16 at 7pm.
- Parent Formation Evening: Sacraments and their implications for life. We are delighted to have Fr. John Chalmers share a little of his wisdom and insight in helping us all discover the richness and the blessings of the Sacraments - 18/10/16 at 7.30pm.
- Preparation for Reconciliation (Sacrament of Healing)
- Small family groups will be invited to celebrate Reconciliation within beautiful childlike liturgies. (Before Easter)
- First Eucharist preparation: April/ May
- First Eucharist will be celebrated on Sunday 4/6/17 & Sunday 11/6/17 at 11.00am.
- An opportunity for children to celebrate God’s love & forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, at this stage of their growth and development.
